How does Rivo 0.5mg Tablet work?

Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine. It works by increasing the action of a chemical messenger (GABA) which suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain.

Indication of Rivo 0.5mg Tablet

Clonazepam is used in the treatment of anxiety disorder and epilepsy/seizures.

Pharmacology

Rivo 0.5 Tablet contains clonazepam, which exhibits benzodiazepine-like pharmacological properties. It acts as an anticonvulsant, sedative, muscle relaxant, and anxiolytic agent. Clonazepam enhances the activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. By increasing GABAergic neurotransmission, clonazepam exerts its therapeutic effects, including seizure control and anxiety reduction.

Dosage & Administration

The dosage and administration of Rivo 0.5 Tablet vary depending on the patient's age, condition, and response to treatment. It is available in oral and injectable forms.

• For adults with seizure disorders, the initial oral dose should not exceed 1.5 mg/day, divided into three doses. The dosage may be titrated gradually based on seizure control and tolerability.
• For adults with panic disorder, the initial oral dose is typically 0.25 mg, administered in two divided doses. The dosage may be increased to 1 mg/day after three days, depending on the patient's response.
• Pediatric patients should receive lower initial doses to minimize the risk of adverse effects.

Contraindications
